David L. Orr

David L. Orr, age 79 of Cambridge, passed away Monday, December 4, 2017 at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center. He was born on December 4, 1939, in Akron, Ohio, a son of the late Orden L. Orr and Lucy A. (Miracle) Orr. Mr. Orr was a 1957 graduate of Cambridge High School. He started his working career in the Ford Garage, Gibson Supply and Potter Hardware in Cambridge. He was a car salesman for many prominent dealers in the area, including Dale Abbott and Bruney-LaMarca. He also lived in Buffalo, NY and became top salesman for Brach’s Candy. Dave came back to Cambridge and opened Orr’s Drive-In on East Wheeling Avenue. David was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church and many other clubs around Cambridge, including: the BPO Elks #448; the Eagles; the Masonic Lodge Guernsey #66 F&AM; the Scottish Rite Valley of Cambridge; the Aladdin Temple Shrine and the Kambri Shrine. Survived by: his wife Harriette E. (McBride) Carnes Orr; daughter Melisa J. (Bill) Edwards of Cambridge; three sons, Tom D. (Kim) Orr of Cambridge, Douglas R. (Carolynn) Orr of Athens and Daniel T. Orr of Jacksonville, FL., the mother of his children Martha (Burris) Smith of Cambridge; two step daughters, Tina E. Kelsey (John Randall) of Shade and Candiace J. Carnes (Robert Webb) of Portland, OR; a step son R. Kim (Jan) Carnes of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren; Alexa, Ian and Eli Edwards, Jenna (Michael) Evancho, Abbie (Trent) Mosser, and Zavin Orr, Robert and Maile’ Orr, and Casey, Daniella and Devin; step-grandchildren, Ben (Carmen) Carnes, Lucas (Karen) Carnes, Sam (Caitlin) Carnes and Dagan Carnes; three great grandchildren; a brother Marvin L. (Alice) Orr of Byesville and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by: his parents and a sister Geneva Preece. Visitation will be at Bundy-Law Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 from 4 to 8 pm. with Masonic services held at 7 pm. His funeral service will be held on Thursday, at 11 am. also at Bundy-Law with Pastor Dan Callahan officiating. Burial will follow in Northwood Cemetery.
