James R. Blair

James R. "Jim" Blair, age 96 of Cambridge, Ohio passed away Thursday August 27, 2009 at The Red Carpet Health Care in Cambridge. He was born December 27, 1912 in Cambridge, Ohio. A member of The Beckett United Methodist Church. Member of The Gideons International Approx. 50 years. Founder and active board member of The S.A.L.T. Factory Teen Center. Person of the year in 2001 in The Daily Jeffersonian, Writer of the Religious Articles in the Daily Jeffersonian. Started Blairs New Furniture and Upholstery business in 1937, worked at Suitt Brothers Chair Factory and Cambridge Glass Company. James was a 2003 Senior Citizens Hall of Fame - state of Ohio. Mr. Blair life story was recently accepted to be featured on "Unshackled" radio drama. This is the longest running radio Broadcast in The world based in Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago, IL. www.unshackled.org. In his youth he was active in The Civilian Conservation Corp. Mr. Blair was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel M. Blair and Anna Hosfelt Blair. His wife Wanda Irene Blair who passed away May 29, 1997. Two children Carol Lee and James Alfred Blair. Six brothers: Bill, Ray, Samuel, Edward, Kenny, Ellis Blair. Two sisters, Alice Sparks and Lucille Miller. James is survived by Two daughters, Judith M. Danny Allender of Byesville, Ohio and B. Jean Charles Melanko of Cambridge, Ohio. One son, John D. Blair of Cambridge, Ohio. One daughter-in-law Joann Blair of Cambridge, OH. One sister, Anna Jones of Cambridge, Ohio. One sister-in-law Grace Anderson of Beach City, OH. Seven grandchildren: John A. Ann Blair, Kimberly John Charlton, James R. Darla Blair. Robin Dan Boyer-Jackman, Shane A. McCance, Andrea Chris Miles, Justin Kandi Greer. Seventeen great-grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Friends amy call Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm at Bundy-Law Funeral Home where the Funeral Service will be held Monday at 11:00 am with Rev. Randy Mercer and Rev. Sturman Moore.
