Ruth Arlene Nichols

Peacefully, Ruth Arlene Nichols, of Antrim, Ohio, passed away on April 15, at the age of 86. Ruth was born in Londonderry Township, Ohio, to the late Verland and Mary (Shipley) Bond. She graduated from Madison High School, and the Office Training School of Columbus, Ohio. She married Raymond R. Nichols, on October 5, 1957. Together they built their home and developed their farm, Midnight Acres. During her time, she was an active member of the Antrim United Methodist Church, serving on committees and her long-standing role, as Treasurer. She was kind, thoughtful, and full of grace. Her soft loving hands crocheted award-winning doilies to adorn homes, Afghans to keep family and friends warm, and she spent endless hours in the garden harvesting fruit and vegetables to provide her family with fresh homecooked meals. She filled the home with the sweet smell of cookies, cakes, and pies. Her appreciation for the outdoors and flowers were evident on the farm, as she planted and nurtured flower gardens. She loved beautiful rocks as a reminder of God in her life and as her rock. Her laugh was infectious, especially when she laughed so hard, she cried. Her joy was never ending, and her knees were worn, as she prayed for her family, friends, and the community. She gave of herself to make the lives of others better. Ruth is survived by her children and their spouses: Randy (Patricia) Nichols, Robert (Lori) Nichols, Russell (Kelly) Nichols, and Rosemary (Dr. Duane Maye); grandchildren: Sarah (Cam Black), Dr. Eric (Tricia) Nichols, Austin (Kelsey) Nichols, Ashlee Nichols, Katie and Jon Ross Maye; great grandchildren: Raymond and Annie Nichols, Emma and Ava Black; sister-in-laws, Donna Bond and Beverly Luyster, and brother-in-law, Ronnie Nichols, as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Raymond; brother, Robert Bond; and her parents Verland and Mary Bond. Family and friends are invited to say a final goodbye at Bundy Law Funeral Home, Cambridge, Ohio, during calling hours on Friday, April 19, at 4:00-7:00 pm, and on Saturday, April 20, at 10:00 am. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 am, with the Reverend Aaron Layne, of Westerville, Ohio, officiating the service.
