Wayne M. Baird

Wayne M. Baird, age 90, of Salesville, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2009 at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center. He was born and raised on a Ohio Century Farm in the Baird Family name since 1872, on January 19, 1919 at his home in Salesville, a son of the late Charles Melville Baird and Vera Alice Baird. Mr. Baird was a member of the Old Washington 1st Presbyterian Church. He was a farmer and worked for Rural Electric Co. Op. installing lines to houses in the 1930's, then worked for The Ohio Fuel and Gas Company. He then retired from Driving School Bus for East Guernsey Schools after 40 years. Wayne was a member and past president of O.P.A.S.E, a past director of Central Ohio Breeders Association, the Guernsey County Dairy Service Unit, The National Holstein Association, The National Dairy Shrine. He loved his family, farming, John Deere tractors his dog Dottie and visiting with friends and family at the Guernsey County Fair. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Elizabeth B.. Bendure Baird on June 28, 2000, they were married on July 28, 1942; and an infant brother. Surviving are: two sons, Charles M. Joanne Baird of Salesville and Mervin W. Barbara Baird of Salesville; a brother, Elbert Baird of St. Marys; grandchildren, Jason Baird, Eric Sr. Kristen Baird, Amy Eric Stonecipher Baird, Travis Nichol Baird, Megan Allen Lyle Baird, Jennifer Rod Skeen, Douglas Missy Baird, Amanda Erik Burkhardt, Chris Tory Field Baird; great grandchildren, Eric Jr.& Ethan Baird, Samantha Schaeffer, Brooke Baird, Gabrielle Skeen, and two more expected great-grandchildren; two nephews Tom and Harry White, two step- nephews, Jim and Joe Hammann; and a sister-in-law, Sarah White. Visitation will be on Saturday, August 22, 2009 from 4 to 8pm at Bundy-Law Funeral Home. The service will be at 2pm Sunday, August 23, 2009 with Rev. William Wooster officiating.
