Clara Lucille Worthington Birch Clara Lucille Worthington Birch, 86, died early Thursday morning at her home in Cambridge. She was born January 13, 1927 to Carrie (Kolb) and William Worthington in Adena, Ohio. She married John Ross Birch at the Pleasant Grove Methodist Church August 24, 1946. She is preceded in death by her parents and spouse. She is survived by five children: Barbara Diane Birch of Columbus, Ohio, John Ross Birch, Jr. (Terri Mills), Roger Allen (Mary-Ruth) Birch, Sandra Marie Birch (John Taylor), and Craig Patrick Birch all of Cambridge. She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Sean Patrick Birch of Columbus, Judd Worthington Birch, Jarod “Levi” Birch, Alexander Louis Birch and Kyle Monbarren Birch all of Cambridge, Joshua Cody (Heather) Birch of Wauchula, Florida, and Amanda Nicole Birch of Cleveland: two great-grandsons, Dade Campbell and Cole Thomas Birch of Wauchula, Florida. She is also survived by two brothers: Mel (Beverly) Worthington and Glenn Worthington of Lakeland, Florida. She worked as a bookkeeper at Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio, during WWII while John served in the Marines in the Pacific campaign. After moving to Cambridge, she cleaned houses and took in laundry and did babysitting so that she could be home to get her kids off to school and be home when they returned. She did the same for her grandchildren. She worked 20 years in dietary at South East Ohio Regional Medical Center. Following retirement she enjoyed crossword puzzles, Scrabble, reading and spending time with her family and listening to their music. She was a 50 year member of the First Christian Church where she was active in the Christian Women’s group. Memorial donations may be made to the First Christian Church, 1127 Beatty Avenue, Cambridge, OH 43725. Friends may call at Bundy-Law Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Debbie Bolen, pastor of First Christian Church will officiate. Internment will be in the Hiramsburg United Methodist Cemetery. A lunch will be provided in the First Christian Church basement following burial.
