John J. Sterling, age 79 of Lore City, passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022 at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center. He was born in Monterville, West Virginia on March 6, 1942, a son of the late John Stanley Sterling and Odessa Susanne (Carskadon) Sterling. Mr. Sterling was a graduate of Tagert Valley High School in Mill Creek, West Virginia. He worked in the steel mill for over 40 years at United Foundry in Canton. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. John is survived by: his wife of 59 years Charlotte J. (Starcher) Sterling; two sons Phillip (fiance Kim Rhodes) Sterling of Canton and Mark (partner Helena Sponseller) Sterling of Canton; 6 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by: his parents; and his brothers, James, Edward, Richard, Verl, Harry and Joseph Sterling. Visitation will be at Bundy-Law Funeral Home on Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 2 to 5 pm. Cremation will follow with burial to take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Guernsey County Senior Citizens at 1022 Carlisle Avenue, Cambridge, Ohio 43725.
