Merlin Lee Paisley
July 27, 1937 - December 19, 2020
Merlin Lee Paisley, age 83 of Cambridge, passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at his home surrounded by his children. He was born on July 27, 1937 in Cambridge, Ohio. He was a son of the late Cheney E. and Virginia K. (Talbert) Paisley. Merlin was a devoted husband, father, pappie and grand pappie. He was a lifetime member of the First Church of God and attended Warsaw Camp Meeting yearly. Merlin was legally blind, however, made no excuse for it and was an example of great strength and perseverance for his family and friends. Merlin was an avid woodworker and had a successful cabinetry and furniture business for many years. Whether it was a broadcasted sermon, a Cincinnati Reds or a Buckeyes game, or his favorite music, Merlin loved listening to his radio. He most appreciated home cooked meals with family and friends, and was sure to get many laughs from the jokes he would tell and his sharp wit. He is survived by: children, Duane (Patti) Paisley, Rene (Jamie) Price, Greg (Kim) Paisley and Aaron (Jessica) Paisley; grandchildren, Bryan (Erin) Paisley, Emily (Jarrett) Smith, Michael (Carly) Price, Adam Price, Sara-Kate (Brandon) Peterson, Emma, Madeline, Thompson and Luke Paisley, and Austin and Ryley Paisley; great grandchildren, Addison, Cashton, Ellison, Sawyer, Evan and Ava; 3 brothers Larry (Carol) Paisley, Gerald (Patty) Paisley, and David (Mel) Paisley; 2 sisters Cherel (Richard) Barton and Carol (Mike) Dobda; and numerous nieces and nephews. Merlin was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 63 years Inez C. "Katie" Paisley, an infant brother and nephew Robert Paisley. There will be a Celebration of Life service held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shrivers Hospice Foundation 601 Underwood Street, Zanesville, Ohio 43701 and/or First Church of God 1930 Newark Road, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
