Obituary

Amos D. Slabaugh, 54, of Salesville, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, at West Virginia University Hospital in Cameron, West Virginia. Born in Medina County to Daniel and Emma (Hostetler) Slabaugh, Amos grew up surrounded by family, faith, and hard work.

His childhood in Lodi and later in Kentucky shaped the man he became—steady, hardworking, and devoted. He spent his early years helping neighbors on tobacco farms and running a small furniture shop. Kentucky is also where he met the love of his life, Ella Gingerich. They married on September 21, 1992, and built a beautiful life together, later settling in Ohio in 1999.

Amos was a talented carpenter and a proud member of the Carpenter’s Union. He most recently worked with Complete General Company in road construction. Outside of work, he found joy in crafting furniture, shooting clay pigeons with his family, and—most of all—fishing.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 33 years, Ella; their children, Lena (Michael) Saling, Anna Mae Slabaugh, and Jason Slabaugh; and grandchildren, Corbin, Austin, and Logan. He is also survived by his siblings—Noah, Lydia, Mary, Levi, John, Lizzie, and Lena—and a large extended family of in‑laws, nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by his in‑laws, Mose and Ella Gingerich.

Family and friends may gather at Bundy‑Law Funeral Home on Monday, June 29, 2026, from 5–7 p.m., and Tuesday from 10 a.m.–12 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at noon. Mark Beros will officiate with burial to follow at Salesville Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at www.bundy-lawfuneralhome.com.
