Andrew Jay Monahan, age 62 of Cambridge, passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at Kobacker Hospice House in Columbus. He was born on October 19, 1962 in New Martinsville, W.V., a son of the late Charles Eugene Monahan and Shirley Mae (Schaum) Monahan.
Mr. Monahan was a graduate of River High School in Hanibal, Ohio. He served in the Navy and was stationed in San Diego. While enlisted he enjoyed building and working on race car engines. Andy had worked at Federal Mogul Champion Spark Plug for many years. Prior to that he was a cook at several area restaurants, including Ryan's in Marietta and Ruby Tuesday's in Cambridge. Andy had a passion for growing flowers and enjoyed sharing new varieties with his sister-in-law for her flower gardens. Sharing his flower gardens with family and friends was Andy's way of sharing love and kindness to those he cared about.
Andy is survived by: a son Andrew Jay Monahan II of Cambridge; his siblings, Kathy (& Vaughn) Harman of New Matamoris, OH, Bruce (& Sandy) Monahan of Cambridge, OH, Brenda Parker of New Matamoris, OH, Tammy Kanner (& Wade deceased) of Clarington, OH, Tim (& Robin) Monahan of Paden City, WV and Eric Monahan of Duffy, OH; a niece Tebreigh (& Craig) Hollins and family; a nephew Adam (& Jessie) Monahan and family, plus numerous other nieces, nephews, and cousins too numerous to mention. Although Andy was a loner, he was loved by many.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; a daughter Andrea Lynn Monahan; and sister Jenny Fluharty and a sister and brother-in-law Debbie and Bob Edwards, and a niece Charlotte Kanner.
