Barbara Jean Brislen Perry, 84 of Cambridge passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at Astoria Place.
She was born June 29th, 1938 in Barnesville, OH. the daughter of Kenneth and Edith Harris Brislen. Barbara was a 1955 graduate of Cambridge High School. She was employed at AVC Communications for thirty years until her retirement. Together with her husband Roy, they owned and operated Perry's Apple Orchard.
Barbara was a fifty plus year member of Sweet Adeline's International and was a current member of Crystal City Chorus in Newark, Ohio. Singing barbershop was Barbara's passion and when on stage, she would be found standing in the front row singing bass right in front of her daughter and chorus director, Karen. Her love of music and hosting family holidays was passed on to her daughters Susan and Karen.
Barbara was a member of First United Methodist Church of Cambridge.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband of 54 years Russell Roy "Scrap" Perry and a brother Kenneth E. Brislen.
She is survived by her two daughters, Susan (Dick) Heldman of Kent, Karen Boyer of Cambridge, three grandchildren, Dustin (Kaitlyn) Derry of Cambridge, Kristen (Randy) Porter of Kent, Kenny (Ashlea) Mathews of Cambridge, seven great grandchildren, McKenzie, Olivia and Owen Derry, Cole and Drew Porter, Karlea and Kynlea Mathews, a sister, Carolyn Evans of Cambridge, a brother John (Liz) Brislen of Columbus, along with many nieces, nephews, and great nieces.
Visitation will be from 3 pm to 7 pm on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Bundy Law Funeral Home 120 N. 11th Cambridge. The funeral service will be at 1 pm on Sunday, May 21, 2023. Mark Beros will officiate with burial to follow in Northwood Cemetery. Donations may be made in Barb's honor to Hospice of Guernsey at P.O. Box 1165 Cambridge, Ohio 43725.
