Carl Sherman Bethel, age 94 of Lore City, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2019 at Countryview Assisted Living Center. He was born on September 24, 1924 in Belmont County, a son of the late George Dewey Bethel and Sara Addie West Bethel.
Mr. Bethel was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He worked and retired from Champion Spark Plug after 34 years of service. He was a member and a deacon at Salt Fork Baptist Church and a member the Cambridge V.F.W. Post 2901.
Carl is preceded in death by: his parents; his wife of over 72 years Dorothy Mae Singer Bethel; a son-in-law Darryl Hittle; step grandson James Dodd; two sisters, Dorothy Green and Marjorie Novack; and two brothers, Edward and Richard Bethel.
He is survived by: a daughter Darlene Sue Hittle of Barnesville; two sons, Dennis Lee (Sandy) Bethel of Flushing and Larry (Trenda) Bethel Jr. of Lore City; two grandchildren, Brent Alan Bethel and Brenda Sue Green; two step grandchildren, Jessica Eby and Angela Rawlins; two great grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 4, 2019 from 5 to 8 pm at Bundy-Law Funeral Home. His service will be at 1 pm on Friday the 5th also at Bundy-Law. Burial will follow in Guernsey Memory Gardens where Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veteran's Council. Memorial donations may be made to Salt Fork Baptist Church.
