Obituary

Catherine Ann Bowlin, age 64, of Cambridge, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. She was born in Akron, Ohio to the late Robert Nutter and Betty Lou Nutter (Doehla) on January 24, 1959. Catherine moved several times during her childhood- St. Louis, MO, Watertown, NY, St. Joseph, Michigan, and finally, settling in Cambridge, Ohio in 1974.

While attending Cambridge HS, Cathie met the love of her life, Tommy Bowlin, who describes her as the "prettiest girl I'd ever seen." And on August, 7, 1976, Cathie and Tom decided to elope and spent the following 47 years of their lives together.

Catherine had an amazing zest for life and was many things in her sixty-four years: An artist, painter, amazing friend, constant reader, book club member, gardener, lover of nature and animals, confidant, brownie troop leader, and most importantly, spouse and mother to her children and animals.

Catherine was warm and loving. Her family came first in every matter and they meant more to her than anything else in her world. She lived a life full of love, adventure, wonder, fun, and silliness and made a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. Never could the beauty of her life be expressed in enough words.

Catherine leaves behind many that will always love her dearly: Her husband of forty-seven years Thomas A. Bowlin Jr.; children Kelly and Phil Vermilion, Carly and Matt Hartmeyer, and Thomas A. and Lisa Bowlin III; grandchildren Tristan and Warren Hartmeyer, and Pennie and Maxwell Bowlin III; siblings Valerie Lyons, Victoria Cook, Steven Nutter, James Nutter, Jean Wilson, and brother-in-law David Carroll; many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews; and her faithful companions, dogs Poppie and Hurley, and her cat AngelaLandsbury.

In addition to her parents, Catherine is preceded in death by her mother-and-father-in-law Nadine and Tom Bowlin, and sisters-in-law, Amelia Bowlin and Constance Carroll.

A graveside memorial service will be held on a later date at Northwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in memory of Cathie Bowlin to the Guernsey County Animal Shelter or your favorite charity or cause.
