Clara L. Kissinger

Clara L. Kissinger, 78, passed away on February 15 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born on February 13, 1932 in Adams County Ohio, Clara was the eighth of fourteen children born to Thomas Albert and Thelma Michael Blair. Clara was a quiet child not overly given to her school studies but, even as a child, was abundantly sensitive and caring. As a middle child of a large depression-era family, Clara grew up without a lot of the extras that are so commonplace today but she was taught by her mother that the love of God and your family makes you rich. This knowledge brought her joy and strength throughout her lifetime. Boarding a bus in Wilmington , Ohio Clara was on her way to visit her sister in Illinois when she met a young man on his way to Marine Corps boot camp. Thus began a journey that was to last a lifetime. After a courtship consisting mostly of letters between the young Marine and the beautiful blonde, the Marine, William Kissinger, introduced his new bride to his family in Cambridge . In 1968, Clara's childhood faith once again beckoned to her when driving by a church meeting and hearing the service, she was drawn in. In the following months, William would join her and feeling the calling to service, they pastored churches in Cadillac , Michigan , Sandusky , Ohio and Dayton , Ohio before due to health reasons, they returned to Cambridge in 1978. Clara spent many of her remaining years teaching the adult Sunday school class and enjoying all things family related. Being blessed with a sweet, easy-going personality, Clara was dearly loved by all who knew her. Clara is survived by her husband William, and their four children, David Dehava Kissinger of Cambridge, Susan Gregg George of Bowling Green, Kentucky, Robert Darla Kissinger of Marysville, Ohio, Beth Peter Ho of New Philadelphia, Ohio, along with eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, and siblings, Edith Rowe of Lawshe, Ohio, Ruth Allen of Wilmington, Ohio, Berlin Blair of Hillsboro, Ohio, Linzy Blair of Waverly, Tennessee, Carol McIntosh of Peebles, Ohio, and Sharon Carnes of Pekin, Illinois. Clara was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Thelma Blair; her grandson, Landen Kissinger; and siblings, Fred Blair, Dewey Blair, Virginia Moore, Betty Thomas, George Blair, Rose Oney and Lilly Hofhines. Visiting hours will be from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 18, 2010 at Bundy-Law Funeral Home with the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 19, 2010. Rev.
