David Lynn "Butch" Metheney passed away on December 16, 2023, at the age of 76 in Cambridge, OH. He was born on August 9, 1947, in Stockport, OH. Dave served his country with honor and dedication, enlisting in the United States Air Force on November 17, 1967. While in the US Air Force, Dave served in the Vietnam Conflict from 1967 to 1969. He retired honorably on November 30, 1987. During his military service, Dave was stationed at Indian Springs AB, NV, Selfridge AB, MI, Rickenbacker AFB, OH, Hickam AFB, HI, Shaw AFB, SC, Osan AB, Korea and Langley AFB, VA.
Dave is survived by his wife, Leah Metheney, and his children, Dr. Lisa Fisher (Barry) of Oklahoma, Julie Metheney of Florida, Keith Metheney of New Mexico and four grandchildren, Joshua, Payton, Kaysen, and KayeMarie. Dave was preceded in death by his second wife Maxine Metheney, his mother Ruby Starcher Metheney, father Lynn Hamilton Metheney, brother Richard Metheney and sister Avis Ryan.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 10 am at Lighthouse Baptist Church in New Concord, OH. Dave will be interred at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville, OH at a separate time.
