Delphalene Brewer Bates, age 83 of Cambridge, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at Riverside Hospital in Columbus. She was born on April 27, 1941 in Inez, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Isaac Brewer and Ollie (Pemberton) Brewer.
Mrs. Bates was a retired teacher. She had taught home economics at several area schools including Cambridge, Buckeye Trail and Meadowbrook. She was a member of the Guernsey County Retired Teachers Association, the Calvary Baptist Church in Byesville and Women's Missionary Fellowship. She had also taught Sunday School at the First Baptist Church in Cambridge.
Surviving are: her husband of 58 years, Robert "Bob" Lloyd Bates, they married on January 22, 1966; three children, Sheri Lynn (& Jason) Jones of Senecaville, Robert Todd Bates of Byesville and James Eric (& Heather) Bates of Marysville; six grandchildren, Caitlin (& Tim) Fox, Laura Bates, Ethan Bates, Hannah Bates, Braden Jones, Kylie Jones; step grandchildren, Colton Jones, Bridget (& Aaron) Todd, Dan (& Terri) Sestina and Sean Sestina; three great grandchildren, Tyler Oliver, Maizie Fox and Beckham Fox; a brother John (& Joyce) Brewer of Groveport; sisters-in-law, Barbara (& Joe) Whitcraft of Columbus, Marilyn (& Jim dec.) Kramer of Marengo, Marsha (& Chris Stotler) Bates of Denver, CO. and Carol Bates of Cleveland; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by: her parents; her father and mother-in-law James and Laura Bates; a brother Charles (sister-in-law Ima) Brewer; a nephew Charlie Brewer; and a niece Jenny Lingafelter.
Visitation will be at Bundy-Law Funeral Home on Sunday, June 23, 2024 from 2 to 5 pm. Services will be held on Monday, also at the funeral home at 11 am with Pastor Dennis Rost officiating.
