Don R. Thursby, age 85 passed away on August 17, 2023 after a short illness. He is preceded in death by his parents Robert and Grace Thursby, first wife Francis Phillips Thursby of 22 years, and brother Jack L. Thursby.
He is survived by his wife Carol R. Thursby of 41 years of Cambridge, Ohio, son David (Debbie) Thursby, daughter Allison L. Woods, and brother Lee W. (Rhoby) Thursby all of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, step-daughters Sherry (Damon) Voros of Waldorf, MD., Juli L. Jacobs of St. Louis, MO., step-son Timothy E. Filing Jr. of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and nephews.
He was a graduate of Hudson High School in Hudson, Ohio.
Don was a retired excavator, licensed sewer, septic, and water line contractor where he ran his own business for over 30 years.
He was a US Coast Guard Captain and ran fishing charters on Lake Erie and in the Gulf of Mexico at Chokoloskee Island, Florida. Don's favorite pastime was fishing and woodworking.
To help further science to save lives of others, he chose to donate his body through the wholebody donation program.
