Donald C. Thatcher, age 89 of Cambridge passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at his home. He was born in Cambridge, Ohio on December 16, 1931 to his late parents Thomas C and Velma M. Thatcher.
He was preceded in death by: a baby sister Betty; his first wife of 44 years Frances F. (Murphy); a son Chuck Thatcher; and a half brother Richard.
Don was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving in the Korean War. He was a member of the D.A.V. chapter #28 in Cambridge and Faith United Methodist Church. He also served as a deacon at the First Baptist Church in Cornelius, N.C. Don Started working when he was 9 years old delivering the Jeffersonian and selling Cloverleaf salve / ointment. He was also a runner for the Civil Defense during W.W. II.
He attended Ohio University and Iowa University and several night and day courses while working his way up to manager of industrial engineering department at Taltronics in Davidson, N.C.
Don is survived by his wife Sandra J. (Knox) Thatcher; a daughter Sandy (John) Pyles of St. Clairsville; a brother Delbert (Sally) Thatcher of Cambridge; a sister Rosezelma Williams of Pleasant City; five step-daughters, Sheri, Vicki, Pam, Cindy and Karen; two granddaughters, Amber and Lisa; several step grandchildren and great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Bundy-Law Funeral Home on Thursday, January 28, 2021 from 12 pm to 1 pm with the service at 1 pm. Pastor Georgette Gaston will officiate the service with burial to follow in Northwood Cemetery. Covid precautions will be observed with distancing and masks.
