Eldred "Shorty" Williams of Cambridge went home to be with the Lord on December 15, 2022 at his home with his wife holding his hand. He was born August 30, 1925, the son of Roy and Naomi Williams. He was preceded in death by his sisters Edna Coss of Cambridge and Irene Roth of Iowa.
Shorty was the beloved husband of Louise (Leeper) whom he married on August 15, 1948. He was a loving father to Sharon Mancuso(Michael) and devoted grandfather to Ashley Brewer(Nathan) and Brent Mancuso(Jennifer). He was the great-grandfather of six.
He attended Oakland Elementary school and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1943, where he played basketball. He joined the US Navy and served all over the world in World War II. After an honorable discharge in 1945, he was employed by American Electric Power until his retirement in 1987. A sports enthusiast, he coached elementary school basketball and American Legion baseball for over 20 years.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cambridge and a Red Cross Volunteer for Southeastern Med Hospital for 20 years. He was a 32nd degree member of the Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite.
Family and friends, please join us as we celebrate Shorty's life with a memorial service on January 6, 2023 at the Bundy-Law Funeral Home, 120 N 11th Street, Cambridge. Calling hours will be 9-11am with the service at 11am. Burial will follow at Northwood Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites performed by the Guernsey County Veteran's Council.
