Evelyn J. "Pete" Prouty, age 89 of Cambridge, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at the home of her daughter in Byesville. She was born on June 30, 1933 in Cambridge, a daughter of the late Virgil D. Thatcher and Lona (Adkins) Thatcher.
Mrs. Prouty was a graduate of Cambridge High School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and the Eastern Star. Pete enjoyed traveling with Buckeye Tours and watching Ohio State Football. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed outings with her friends and spending time with her family.
She is preceded in death by: her parents; her husband Walter J. Prouty in 2008; a daughter Denise Prouty Hinkley; a granddaughter Jamie Valentine; and a sister Mary Ellen McWilliams.
Surviving are: daughter Debra (& Jay) Valentine of Byesville; sons, Rich (& Lisa) Prouty of Austinburg and Rex (& Tammy) Prouty of Cambridge; a son-in-law Dave Hinkley; seven grandchildren, Zachary McHenry, Ian, Caleb and Jared Prouty, Nicole Seeley (& Parker Conner), Kelly (& Terry) Barnes and Christopher (& Chalanda) Hinkley; seven great grandchildren; and two nieces.
Visitation will be at Bundy-Law Funeral Home on Thursday, May 25, 2023 from 4 to 8 pm. Her funeral will be held on Friday, the 26th at 11 am, also at Bundy-Law with Pastor Jon Lobos officiating.
