Obituary

Gloria I. (Derry) Siegfried, 86, began her life on March 16, 1938, in Ravenna, Ohio, and passed from this life on February 12, 2025 in Cambridge, Ohio. Gloria was the eldest of two children and only daughter of the late Gerald V. and Teresa A. (Piltz) Derry.

With the exception of residing in Kent, Ohio her first 6 years, Gloria was a lifelong resident of Guernsey County, Ohio. Most of her childhood was spent on a family farm near Odell, Ohio. Though she left the farm as a young adult, there was a part of the farm that never left her. She sometimes still referred to herself as a farm girl and was proud of how she was raised.

Gloria graduated from Madison High School in 1956. As a young lady, Gloria was hired by RCA Corporation (which later became the NCR Corporation), in Cambridge, Ohio. A handsome young man, Jack R. Siegfried, was also working for RCA. A workplace romance ensued, leading to an engagement, and Gloria married the love of her life on September 29, 1962, in Cambridge, Ohio. Gloria and Jack would continue to commute and work together until their respective retirements from NCR, Gloria completing 26 years of service.

Gloria and Jack enjoyed 43 years of marriage, during which they extensively traveled the United States, but frequently found themselves in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Close to home, they enjoyed many local festivals. Gloria and Jack had a standing dinner date nearly every Saturday evening, often semi-formal.

Gloria was an excellent cook, keeping Jack well fed. In her younger years, she enjoyed hosting extensive holiday dinners for family. In later years, she was a guest at holiday tables of family members, but insisted on contributing a dish... and the black olives, which were tradition at every meal Gloria served.

Gloria loved family. She enjoyed having a cat around the house and she enjoyed nature in her yard. She always had a full bird feeder outside her window. Gloria always kept her nails manicured and painted. She was an admirable, independent woman of strength until her very last days.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Teresa; her beloved Jack; brothers-in-law Charles (Elsie) Siegfried, Kenneth Siegfried, and Raymond Siegfried; sister-in-law Mary Jane (Robert) Eddy; and a nephew Charles "Corky" Siegfried. She is survived by her brother Glen (Helen) Derry; nephews Jeff Derry and David (Laurel) Derry; niece Carolyn Siegfried; and several great nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may call on Saturday February 15, 2025 from 10:00 to 11:00 at Bundy-Law Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow at 11:00 with Father Nicholas Ginnetti and Rev. David Derry officiating Burial will be in Northwood Cemetery.
