Heather Sue (Neilley) Sheppard of Cambridge died unexpectedly on Monday, February 17, 2025 at OhioHealth Southeastern Medical Center. She graduated in 1987 from Cambridge High School and earned an associate degree in nursing from Belmont Technical College, as well as one in arts & sciences from Ohio University. Over the years, she held many occupations from hairdresser to truck driver to office administrator for two Cambridge realty companies. Currently she was a caregiver, putting her whole heart into taking care of her clients in their homes. Heather took wonderful care of her parents before they passed, leading her to this current work. She treated her clients like family, giving them the same genuine care and support as her parents.
Heather was a former member of Indian Camp Grange, Ohio State and National Granges, and Hopewell Homemakers. She was a former member of Sweet Adelines, singing with the Premier quartet. She was currently a member of Indian Camp Community Church. She was known for her quiet patriotism, loyalty, smiles and love, always thinking of others and her giving spirit. She also loved her family and extended family. She was honored to be the one to give first haircuts to many of her nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She also showered her love and care on many cats that they adopted over the years, earning her the family nickname "Crazy Cat Lady" which she bore with humor and pride.
Preceded in death by parents Blaine and Martha Neilley, infant Neilley brother, grandparents John and Mabel Neilley and Edgar and Verna Fissell. Survived by husband Victor Scott Sheppard, whom she married May 3, 1997, brother and sister-in-law, Grant and Sue Neilley of Baltimore, OH; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Tom McCoy of Etna, OH, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Heidi and Frank Dines of Grove City, OH. Also 15 nieces and nephews, 16 great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, as well as many furry cat friends.
Arrangements handled by Bundy-Law Funeral Home, 120 N. 11th St, Cambridge, OH 43725, 740-432-5705. Family will receive family and friends at the funeral home on Saturday, March 1, 2025 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home and graveside services at Mt. Herman Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Guernsey County, Humane Society of Guernsey County (Cat Shelter) or other charities of your choice in Heather's name.
