Helen M. Andrews, age 93 of Cambridge, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at her home. She was born on September 29, 1921 in Cambridge, a daughter of the late Mike Hanna Andrews and Shafica (Bushala) Andrews.
Helen graduated from Brown High School in 1939. She then attended Muskingum College from 1939-1942, then went to Ohio University in Athens 1943 where she was the Dean of Students in Lindley's Hall. She graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Education. She taught school for 42 years and in 1980 was awarded "Teacher Of The Year". In Lore City she formed a Girl Scout Organization from 1944-1950. Helen was a member of: the First United Methodist Church; the Naomi Ruth Sunday School Class; Business and Professional Girls Club; American Association of University Women; a life member of the Ohio Education Association and a life member of the Ohio Retired Teacher's Association; a member of the National Cambridge Glass Association; the Guernsey County Historical Society; the Guernsey County Republican Club; and the Ohio University Sorority Omicron Delta Kappa Torch. She was a Delegate to the Ohio Education Association and instrumental in establishing the tasting party in the elementary schools, learning the four food groups. Helen enjoyed, traveling over halfway around the world, photography, reading, gardening and her flowers. She was very kind and loving person to everyone.
Helen is survived by: a brother Fred M. (Janet) Andrews of Cambridge; nephews, Mike Andrews Jr. of Cambridge, William "Bill" and Beth Andrews of Pickerington and Ronald "Ronnie" and Deanna Andrews of Cambridge; Great nephews, Jordan (Cail) Andrews and Jared Andrews, Cameron Bahas, Mason Marlatt, the love of her life; great nieces, Jamie Lee Andrews, Kala Andrews and Kylee (Tyler) Bahas, Alyssia Andrews.
She is preceded in death by a sister Alice M. Andrews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 1, 2015 from 2 to 8 pm at Bundy-Law Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at 11 am at the First United Methodist Church / 641 Steubenville Avenue. Cambridge, Ohio 43725. Rev. Randolph White will officiate the service with burial to follow in Northwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Guernsey at P.O.
