Obituary

Hettie D. (Mason) Hare, 93 of Derwent, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday March 12, 2024. Hettie was born September 9, 1930 in Derwent the daughter of the late Robert "Bum" and Genevieve (Sims) Hare. Hettie graduated from Buffalo High School at the top of her class in 1948. Although she initially wanted to become a teacher, her life took a different path. On June 23, 1957, she married William "Bill" Hare. Together, they had three children. Ultimately, Hettie found herself in the hearts of many school students as an aide and lunchroom monitor at Rolling Hills Local Schools.

What Hettie loved most was to laugh. She was a devout member of the Derwent Methodist Church. Her commitment to her family, determination, and sense of humor will live on in those she touched.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband William Hare and her beloved cousin, Sharon (Sims) Lucas. She is survived by her three children Rhonda (Tom) Stemmer, Mark (Jill) Hare, and Kevin (Debbie) Hare, her three grandchildren Heather (Bruce) Fout, Matthew Stemmer, Lakyn Hare, and her great-grandson Benjamin Fout.

Calling hours will be held at Bundy-Law Funeral Home on Friday March 15, 2024 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. The funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday March 16, 2024 at the Derwent Methodist Church with Debbie Gheen and Kirk Gable officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Byesville.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Derwent Methodist Church. Her family would like to thank the staff at Beckett House Healthcare & Rehabilitation for the care they provided for her. On-line condolences can be sent to the family at www.bundy-lawfuneralhome.com .
