Irvin Washington Bloom

Irvin Washington Bloom, age 80, of Guernsey County, Ohio passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, June 5. He was born in Fairfield County, Ohio on August 18, 1943 to the late Irving W. Bloom and Esther W. (Still) Palmer. Irvin was affectionately known as "Tuffy," a childhood nickname he received after he fell down a flight of stairs and didn't cry. After graduating high school in Port Washington, Ohio in 1962, Irvin enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a communications specialist. Four years later, while at a local Tacoma roller skating rink, he was blessed to meet the love of his life, Connie L. Bloom of Sumner, Washington. Within months, on February 17, 1967, they married at the Nazarene Church of Puyallup, Washington. From that day on, they were inseparable.
Irvin had a successful career with Pacific Northwest Bell as a foreman leading a telephone line crew. His strong work ethic and ingenuity was instrumental in later building a thriving handmade ceramic business with Connie. Their ceramics were sold across the country, even at an exclusive retailer in Beverly Hills, California. A devoted father, Irvin enjoyed spending time outdoors with his family, especially camping, fishing, gardening, and traveling around country, all the while teaching them important life skills. These adventures inspired him to also become a Boy Scout Troop Leader, serving as a mentor for young boys in his community. His generosity and compassion toward others was at the heart of his core values, always lending a helping hand to support those less fortunate.
Irvin was preceded in death by his wife, Connie, of 52 years. He is survived by his four children, Kimberly, Shawn, Daniel, and Heather, as well as his grandchildren and great grandchildren. A man of integrity, warmth, and humor, Irvin touched the lives of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, even by his faithful little companion, a Chihuahua named Princess, who was at his side to the very end. Calling hours will be on Saturday, June 15th at noon at Bundy-Law Funeral Home in Cambridge, Ohio.
