Obituary

James L. Fields, age 87, of Cambridge, OH passed away on Saturday August 5, 2023 at The Kobacker House in Columbus, OH. James was born on September 15, 1935 to the late Revere Fields and Dora Gibson Fields in Cambridge, OH. He was retired from The State of Ohio Department of Transportation as the Assistant Superintendent. A beloved member of Pinnacle Crest Ministries; and he worship services of John Hagee Ministries. James was a record Veteran of The United States Navy where he received multiple medals . He attended Cambridge High School and upon serving in the US Navy he received his GED in 1954.

Along with his parents James is preceded by death by his wife, Garnet Eileen Holbert Fields whom he married November 15, 1957. A daughter, Garnet Elizabeth Fields. One sister, Ida May Hollins. Brothers: Ralph, Melvin, Harold, Clarence, Robert, Paul, Charles.

He is survived by five daughters: Tanis Fields of Long Beach, California, Theda Fields White of Concord, North Carolina, Dorothea Fields of Haddonfield, New Jersey, Joanna Fields (Todd) of Columbus, Ohio, Debra (Carlos) Smith of Columbus, Ohio. One sister, Bessie Elizabeth Tobin. Four grandchildren: Robin Crew (Taji), Constance Greene (Terrance), James L. Fields II (Brenda), Brittany Duckery, Hannah Fields, Ty Smith, Trey Smith. Four great-grandchildren: Autumn, Aminah, Aleah, William. One great great grandchild, Kristian. He also leaves to cherish many nieces and nephews and close friends.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Saturday August 19, 2023 at Bundy-Law Funeral Home, 120 North 11th Street, Cambridge, Ohio 43275. Rev. Randolph White officiating with burial in Northwood Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites conducted by The Guernsey County Veterans Council.
