Joan R. (Whyte) Hill, age 87 of Cambridge, passed away on Sunday, October 1, 2023 at the home of her daughter in New Concord, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on April 29, 1936 in Nelsonville, Ohio, a daughter of the late Meade A. Whyte and Carmen R. (Tracey) Whyte.
Mrs. Hill worked and retired from Cambridge City Schools as a cook. She was a member of Christ Our Light Parish, the Red Hatters and the Guernsey County Senior Center. Joan was always active with her kids and the PTA and the Patrol Wives. She was an avid supporter of all her kids, grandkids and great grandkids in their many extra curricular activities. She was also a strong supporter of Ohio State Buckeye Football.
Joan married the love of her life on July 10, 1954, the late Ernest F. Hill Jr., he passed away on November 4, 2001. Also deceased are her parents; a sister Margie Whyte; a brother Mike Whyte; a sister-in-law Peggy Loel; and son in law Chris Hite.
She leaves: her children: sons: Rocky (Ellen) Hill of Cambridge, Ohio, Jeff (Joyce) Hill of Grove City, Ohio, Michael (Robin) Hill of Ellijay, Georgia, Tracey (Tina) Hill of Cambridge, Ohio, Jon (Lisa) Hill of Cambridge, Ohio; daughters: Amy (Greg) Maison of Dundin, Florida, Rita (Jay) Ratliffe of New Concord, Ohio, grandchildren: Jason (Chrystal) Hill, Dustin Hill, Cody (Samantha) Hill, Brianna (Mark Malleo) Hill, Ben Lambes, Brandi (Jim) Trelka, Kayla (Cory) Johnson, Katie Lambes, Amanda (Lee) Gillis, Bo (Ashley) Hill, Casey (Sarah) Hill, Kelly Hill, Brittny (Jimmy) Bundy, Becca Eddy, Clay Hill, Jake (Melissa) Ratliffe, Derek Hill, Brooklyn Allese, Carmen Hill, John Ratliffe, Joe (Jaden) Ratliffe, and Morgan Hill; step-grandchildren: Jake (Amy) Ratliffe, Tasha (Brandon) Leasure, Jessica (Matt) Warpool, Chase (Sarah) Lanning, Jenson Lanning, and Alex Maison; great-grandchildren: Anna Hill, Easton Hill, Jaden Hill, Micah Hill, Brodie Hill, Kharli Benson, Brylee Benson, Rylee Kate Mullis, Bentlee Mullis, Jaxson Eddy, Blake Mullis, Gary Ratliffe, Declan Eddy, Hudson Johnson, Lucas Hill, Carter Hill, Brynlee Ratliffe, Henry Ratliffe, Oakley Johnson, Hudson Hill, Bronx Allese, Jayce Ratliffe, Tommy Ratliffe, Charli Trelka, Mason Hill, and one little Hill to be determined; step-grandchildren: Jazmine Leasure, Wyatt Ratliffe, Brylee Leasure, Bryer Warpool, Lily Ratliffe, Kallina Leasure, Payzlie Warpool, Elias Leasure, Braiden Hatcher, Barrett Lanning, Aryanna Bundy, Aryella Bundy, Orion Bundy, Mack Gillis and Lucy Gillis; two sister-in-laws, Darlene Whyte of Columbus, Ohio and Bonnie Hall of Indianapolis, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews; and dear friend Ella Cropper who we referred to the two of them as Thelma and Louise.
Visitation will be at Bundy-Law Funeral Home on Saturday, October 7, 2023 from 11 am to 1 pm with her funeral service to begin at 1 pm.
