Joann M. Lanning Taylor, age 90 of Cambridge, passed away on Friday, December 22, 2023 at Brookdale Senior Living in Zanesville. She was born in Cambridge, on January 2, 1933 a daughter of the late Owen Russell Lanning and Bessie (McConnell) Lanning.
Mrs. Taylor was a graduate of Old Washington High School where she was proud to have been a cheerleader . She had worked in banking for over 30 years. From teller to supervisor to secretary and then retired from Guernsey Savings and Loan Co. She had been a Center Township Fiscal Officer and was a member of Center United Methodist Church. She attended all the grandchildren's sporting events and piano recitals. She loved making cookies, baking, crocheting and making afghans. Gardening, canning and making strawberry jam are some fond memories also. She was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and the Buckeyes.
Joann is preceded in death by: her parents; her husband of 65 years F. Eugene "Gene" Taylor; brother Charles Robert "Bob" Lanning; and a sister Lois Lanning Hall.
Surviving are: son Larry G. (Carla) Taylor of Cambridge; daughter Debra J. (Eugene) Nye of Dresden; six grandchildren, Laura (Dave) McComb, Mandy (Mike) McGlumphy, Adam (Tracy) Taylor, Ashleigh (Jason) Fields, Courtnie Nye and Katelyn Nye; six great grandchildren; Josie McComb, Brennan McComb, Ty McGlumphy, Drew McGlumphy, Kara Taylor and Annabelle Fields and a Baby Fields to be arriving soon; a sister-in-law Carlyn (Ted) Hemminger of CA; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at Brookdale and at Genesis Hospice for the care they have given.
Visitation will be at Bundy-Law Funeral Home on Thursday, December 28, 2023 from 4 to 7 pm. Her service will be on Friday the 29th at 11 am with Pastor Jim Gaston officiating. Burial will follow in Northwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Center United Methodist Church.
