Judith Josephine (Otterstedt) Beam, 83, formerly of Cambridge, passed away at 6:30 a.m. at a Raleigh, North Carolina hospital. She was born on August 7, 1941, in Cambridge, the daughter of Elmer Bertram Otterstedt and Agnes Elizabeth (D'Aprix) Otterstedt. She graduated from Plainfield High School in Plainfield OH in 1959. Later that year, Judith married Wiliam Lee Beam on December 26, 1959. After getting married, Judith accompanied William to several U.S. cities and international countries while he served in the United States Navy, from Norfolk to Jacksonville to San Diego to Japan. Her children were born in California and Japan.
She loved refinishing antique furniture, crocheting, knitting, and cross stitch. Judy had a passion for sewing at a young age that continued over the years. Judy loved watching birds of all types, and was especially fond of the Bluebirds and Cardinals. Judy and William relocated to Raleigh NC area several times over the years, with the last time in 2016, where they lived until their passing.
She is survived by her daughter, Lori Beam Johnson (Don) of Raleigh, NC; their son, Duane William Beam (Tina) of Fernandina Beach, FL; 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Her brother, Allan Otterstedt (Annie) and her sister, Janice Ramage (Bill).
Funeral arrangements are being handled locally by Bundy-Law Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in Northwood Cemetery following a graveside service at 11:00 on October 12, 2024.
