Kenneth W. Matthews, age 82 of Cambridge, passed away on Monday, December 16, 2013 at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center. He was born on September 29, 1931 in Sandwich Ontario Canada, a son of the late Kenneth Clide Matthews and Villa Louise (Fish) Matthews.
Mr. Matthews served his country in the U.S.Army during the Korean War where he received a Purple Heart for his service. Kenneth worked for the City of Cambridge for 18 years in many different positions including, foreman for the Utilities and Water Department, superintendent of Northwood Cemetery and was also the city building inspector. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family.
Kenneth was a devoted husband of his wife Betty (Mills) Matthews whom he married on March 10, 1952. A devoted father of: Mrs. Tom (Rhonda) McCoy of Boiling Springs Lake, N.C., Kenny (Sharon) Matthews, Marty (Cheryl) Matthews, Doug (Sandy) Matthews and Regan Matthews all of Cambridge; nine grandchildren, Chad McCoy, Sabrina (John) Long, Taylor (Allison) Matthews, Derek Matthews, Jared Matthews, Brittany Matthews, Lori (Eric) Schultz, Craig Matthews and Brooke Matthews; two great grandchildren, Hali Deason and Olivia Matthews; and several nieces, nephews and close friends.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Villa Matthews, a son Robbie Matthews and a brother George T. Matthews.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, December18, 2013 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm with the service on Thursday at 11am at Bundy-Law Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Northwood Cemetery. His online tribute wall may be viewed and signed at www.bundy-lawfuneralhome.com .
