Martha E. Brothers, age 87 of Cambridge, formerly of Red Carpet Health Care Center, passed away Monday, August 2, 2010 at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center. She was born on May 21, 1923 in Cambridge, a daughter of the late J. Paul LaRue and Ella T. Warden La Rue.
Mrs. Brothers attended Old Washington Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of Old Washington High School. She and her husband owned a farm at Gibson Station for many years. After that they were the original owners of Zane-ette on Rt. 40 and the the Brothers Furniture Store.
Martha was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Dwight L. Brothers in November 1979 (they were married on October 4, 1941); and three grandchildren, Mark Chambers, Melissa Blake and Travis Wallace.
Surviving are: three daughters, Barbara (Tom) Chambers of Cambridge, Janet K. (Harold) of Zanesville, and Brenda (Ronnie) Wallace of Cambridge; a son Jim (Billie) Brothers of Newark; 6 grandchildren, Michael (Beth) Chambers of Zanesville, Tracey (Jim) Antill of Cambridge, Brian (Brenda) Brothers of Alaska, Bruce (Audra) Brothers of Newark, Eric Wallace and Carrie Wallace of Cambridge; and twelve great grandchildren.
Visitation will be on Thursday, August 5, 2010 from 5 to 7 pm with the service at 7 pm at Bundy-Law Funeral Home. Rev. Andy Woods will officiate the service. A private burial will take place in Friends Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Guernsey P.O.
