Mary Elizabeth Lam, age 93, formerly of the Cambridge, Ohio area, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at her winter location in Davenport, Florida. She was born December 6, 1930, daughter of the late Adam Dragosin and Nora Faye (LaFollette) Dragosin.
Mrs. Lam worked and retired after 30+ years from Champion Spark Plug. After retirement she was elected trustee for Center Township and was happy to see numerous township improvements during her tenure. She was also a former member of the Center United Methodist Church. She was not idle in her retirement life and found ways to serve others in need; home child care and election voting were memorable areas where she assisted.
The learned ethic of hard work preceded Miss Mary and accompanied her throughout her life. She worked diligently at home and at play and took her organizing skills with her wherever she went. In early 2006, she moved to northern Michigan to be with her daughter and only child. Within a two-year period she had the misfortune to suffer a particularly dense stroke which unfortunately took her speech. After the stroke, her untiring work ethic allowed her to fight her way forward as she was able to live a fulfilling life and filled the hearts of those around her with words of "I Love You," joyful laughter, and her own made up language and lyrics to well-known tunes. Miss Mary enjoyed being around others and despite her disabilities did not shy away from engaging with the public. She insisted on getting out daily and frequented numerous restaurants both in northern Michigan and Florida. She was well known and admired by the restaurants' staff, which she enjoyed immensely. She relished opportunities to observe performances by her niece Lynsey Stocker Brooks and nephew Adam Calvert, road trips, Disney experiences, and being a passenger during weekly golf outings. She was an avid fan of Ohio State basketball and football. Her absence will be a noticed disappointment to so many, especially since she had an energy which allowed her to shine. Despite the many challenges to bear, she was able to meet each one with a lively personality, a smile on her face and a little tune in her heart.
Mary was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband William E. Lam on December 30, 1998; three brothers, Paul, William and Charles Dragosin; and four sisters, Reba Thomas, Lucille Ramsey, Sarah Hanes and Norma Hill.
Surviving her are: daughter Monica Graham and William Kirby of Harbor Springs, Michigan; nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. And, of course, the many friends she made and enjoyed North and South.
Visitation will be at Bundy-Law Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 12 pm to 2 pm with services to begin at 2 pm. Pastor Jim Gaston will officiate with burial to follow in Old Washington Cemetery. Mary's online guest book may be viewed and signed at
