Okey David "Dave" Carter, age 84 of Cambridge passed away on Monday, June 24, 2024 at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. He was born in Elkins, West Virginia on October 22, 1939, a son of the late Roy W. Carter and Garnett I. (Brown) Carter.
Mr. Carter was a 1957 graduate of Madison High School and worked as a mechanic for Tansky in Zanesville for many years. He was a member of the Old Washington Presbyterian Church. Dave had been a school board member for 18 years and was very involved with Buckeye Trail school events. Dave was also an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians.
He is survived by a daughter Stacy (& David) Wheeler of Peoli; a son Chad (& Dawanetta) Carter of Center; four grandchildren, Devin (& Stacy) Wheeler of New Concord, Diana Wheeler of Parkersburg, Cory Wheeler of Peoli, and Emily Wheeler of Parkersburg; three great-grandchildren, Henry, Kate and Samuel; an ex-wife Linda Carter; two sisters, Lois George and Dorothy (& Curt) King; and several nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Mary Scott, Martha Ripley, Bernice Guthery, Gray Stecklow, Odest "Buck" Carter, Fenton Carter and a niece Jane Marie Carter.
Memorial visitation will be held at Bundy-Law Funeral Home on Friday, July 12, 2024 from 5 pm to 7 pm with a service to follow at 7 pm. Chaplain Kris Bright will officiate the service.
