Philip E. Wentzel Sr. age 84 of Cambridge, passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center. He was born on May 15, 1927 in Wheeling ,W.V., a son of the late Edward L. Wentzel and May Margaret (Frye) Wentzel.
Mr. Wentzel was a member of St. Benedict's Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Wildfire Senior Golf League, the Y- Not Golf League, and the King Pin Lane Senior Bowling League. He served his country in the U. S. Army Air Force during W.W.II. He retired from Phillip's Products and Dunning Motors as an Office Manager.
He coached little league baseball from 1958 to 1970 and biddy league football from 1966 to 1971 in Cambridge. He was one of the founders of the 250 Club for the Benefit Cambridge High School Athletic Department.
Philip leaves: his wife, Agnes M. (George) Wentzel of the home, they were married on May 22, 1948; four sons, Philip E. (Virginia) Wentzel Jr of Cambridge, Thomas R. (Pook) Wentzel of Columbus, Kenneth R. (Nancy) Wentzel of Delaware and Timothy A. (Linda) Wentzel of Westerville; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Lois Beihl.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 25, 2011 from 4 to 7 pm at Bundy-Law Funeral Home. The service will be at Christ Our Light Parrish on Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at 10 am with the church open at 9 am.
