Obituary

Ralph Eugene Dix, age 78, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, February 20, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 24, 1947, in Columbus, Ohio, a son of the late Ralph H. Dix and Betty M. (Scanlon) Dix.
Ralph was a graduate of John Glenn High School. Following graduation, he proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he trained and worked as an electronic technician. He began his working career with NCR in Cambridge, Ohio. He later moved to Freeport, Texas where he worked for Intermedics. Returning to Ohio, he worked on an Air Force base in Newark. Throughout his career, Ralph's skills took him to many states. He worked on satellites for Navy ships in Indianapolis, Indiana and on submarines in St. Mary's, Georgia, among other endeavors. In his later years, he returned home to Cambridge and became a truck driver, retiring after many dedicated years on the road.
Ralph lived life with adventure and determination. Throughout his life, he enjoyed riding motorcycles, flying—having earned his pilot's license—scuba diving, hunting, fishing, and caring for his farm and animals. A true handyman, with his stubborn persistence, could fix nearly anything. Known for his strong Christian Faith. Ralph was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He especially cherished attending his daughters' and grandchildren's sporting events and was known for his one of a kind sense of humor.
On April 26, 1980, he married the love of his life, Bridget A. (Sanders) Dix, in Texas. Together they shared nearly 46 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Christine (Barry) Browning of New Concord, Stephanie (Dakota) Mooney of Cambridge, and Jodie Benner; his sister, Kathy (Jay) Dyer of Georgia; grandchildren, Brody, Cashton, and Rylee; as well as several other grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his nephew, Kevin Dyer, and his cousin, Joe Kane.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Hospice of Guernsey for the compassionate care shown to Ralph and their family.
A graveside service will be held at Zion Cemetery on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., with Chaplain Kris Bright officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Guernsey, P.O. Box 1165, Cambridge, Ohio 43725.
