Robert “Bob” Downing Hough, 84, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026, at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was a son of the late Denver, Sr. and M. Joyce Hough. He was born September 29, 1941, in Findlay, Ohio, and graduated from Buffalo High School in 1959.

He was a Christian by faith and is a member of the Church of Christ.

He married the love of his life, Jeannie (Smith) Hough on September 10, 1965, and enjoyed 61 wonderful years together sharing a beautiful life. His son and daughter have always been his pride and joy. He was an amazing dad and was always there for them, whether it was playing kickball together in the street in Eastmoor to tackling any home improvement project they ever had, no matter how big or small. As his first grandchild was born in 1992, he beamed and lovingly declared, “I shall be called Grandfather.” And what a truly wonderful grandfather he was. He adored his grandchildren and loved spending quality time with them. He was not a sports enthusiast but you could surely expect to find him enthusiastically cheering on his grandchildren at all of their Bobcat

sporting events. Over the past 6 years, he loved seeing his great grandchildren whenever he could and they brought him great joy.

He retired as a concrete finisher from Hug Concrete of Norwalk and later from Bain Goff Builders of New Concord. He also worked many years for his brothers with GH Concrete and D&H Concrete. He has been a very hard worker his whole life. Jeannie always said, “He must have been born with a shovel in his hands,” because you could always find him shoveling something and moving the earth for one reason or another in his free time. He excelled in woodworking. He has created numerous beautiful wooden chests, bookcases and other pieces through the years. He created a spectacular wooden Valuables Chest cabinet that was selected to be featured in the August 2017 issue of Fine Woodworking Magazine. He enjoyed spending time with his family, reading the Bible and Westerns, arrowhead hunting, taking daily walks appreciating the outdoors and gardening where he produced an abundance of delicious vegetables.

He is survived by his wife, Jeannie; son, Gordon Hough of Cambridge; daughter, Jennifer (Tim) Reed, of Cambridge; granddaughter, Jessi (Drew) Dickerson of Indiana; grandson Ty Robert Reed of Cambridge; and grandson, Parker (Sydney) Reed of Pennsylvania. Three brothers: Denver Hough, Jr., Garry (Candy) Hough and Rick (Laura) Hough, all of Cambridge. Two sisters: Sue Hough of Mesa, AZ, and Jan McCullough of Findlay. Four great-granddaughters: Riley, Kinsley and Avery Dickerson and Vivian Reed. Also numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, relatives and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, James and Joy Hough; sister, Saundra Hough; sister-in-law Barb Hough; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Cookie and Tom Clark; brother-in-law, Gordie Smith, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Les and Margaret Smith.

His family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Patrick Goggin, Jodie and the staff of the Kidney Care Centers of Cambridge, and the staff of Hospice of Guernsey.

Visitation will be at Bundy-Law Funeral Home on Friday, September 25, 2026, from 11 am to 1 pm with services beginning at 1 pm.
