Sandra Hensley Turner, age 76 of Cambridge, passed away on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center. She was born on May 5, 1939 in Huntington, W.V., a daughter of the late Tom Hensley and Lorene "Sammie" (Owens) Hensley.
After attending Marshall University, Sandy went to work for the C&O and B&O Railroad for over 20 years. After moving to Cambridge, she and her husband, Ed were partners in ownership of Wendy's and Rax Restaurants and County Coins and Collectibles in Cambridge. Sandy was a member of the First United Methodist Church, a former member of the Sweet Adelines and the Cambridge Singers. She had served on the Red Cross Board and was a previous member of the Southeastern Med. Wing 13. Sandy loved singing and crocheting and was an avid boxing fan.
Sandy is survived by: husband of 50 years, Edward C. Turner; her children, Celeste (Ken) Turner Cowgill of Cambridge, Elizabeth Deaton of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and Ed Turner of Casa Grande, AZ.; grandchildren Casey (Jeff) Owens Patrick of Grove City, Nicholas J. Cowgill of Cambridge, Luke (Krista) Cowgill of Lakewood, Lindsay Noles, Hilary Noles and Olivia Whitley all of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; sister-in-laws Glenna Hensley of Huntington W.V. and Nancy (Richard) Murphy of Scurry, TX; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by: her parents Tom and Lorene Hensley and a brother Larry "Butch" Hensley.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Bundy-Law Funeral Home from 4 to 7 pm. Her service will be held at 11 am Thursday with Pastor Max Beery officiating. Burial will follow in Columbus at Greenlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
