Obituary

Saundra Elaine Hough, age 77 of Cambridge

Saundra came into this world on August 25, 1945 in Findlay Ohio to parents Denver C. Hough Sr. and Muriel Joyce (Downing) Hough and left this world on August 12, 2023 at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center. A private
funeral service was held by her family on April 18, 2023 then she was laid to rest in Northwood Cemetery. Her long and remarkable life was celebrated by her family who remembered her as fiercely independent, funny and very intelligent.

Saundra worked 45 years at Champion Spark Plug starting shortly after graduating from Byesville High School. She worked in Quality Control as an Inspector and eventually worked her way up to become a Supervisor then finally retiring in 2009. Between school and work she developed life long friendships that she cherished.

When Saundra was young her siblings all recall her being a feisty tomboy. She insisted on tagging along with her brothers wanting to do everything they did whether it was shooting marbles or shooting BB guns and they say she was determined and hard to shake. Growing up with so many siblings she most certainly learned to hold her own and stand her ground no matter what the situation.

Saundra tried her hand at just about everything and to name just a few shes been on a bowling league, a golf team, she was an excellent shot with any kind of gun, she traveled with friends, she was a great thinker and a fixer, she could always manage to "MacGyver" anything out of virtually nothing and make it work. She was an outstanding teacher and took great patience with anyone who wanted to learn something she had experience in which was a lot of things! She was thrifty but generous if you needed something, she was ornery and silly at heart, she could talk to anyone and make them feel comfortable, she had an infectious sense of humor and would get the biggest laugh from her own mistakes, she mastered in the art of sticky notes to jot things down and put them everywhere and if you were lucky in your card or in your present, she took great care picking out presents and wrapped them so beautifully that it made them extra special if you got one from her. She loved a lot of things including cool cars and over the years owned several herself, Marietta corn and fresh strawberry pie in the summertime, sitting on her back deck enjoying her yard, babies with squeezable cheeks and of course Ohio State football but above all else she absolutely loved fishing. She was happy deep sea fishing or any pond would do just fine.

In her retirement years she was most happy to do her crossword and sudoku puzzles everyday, tinker around in her garage, fix things around her house, catch an old western on TV, recycle newspapers to donate to the local animal shelter, cook fresh meals for her furry friend and companion Zoe, watch every Ohio State game and keep up with anything going on in her family whether it was an upcoming wedding or someone sick and finding out how they are doing.

Shes gone ahead to join her deceased parents, her two brothers: Jim (Joy) Hough and stillborn David Hough, her dog Zoe and all of her other pets over the years and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews and in-laws.

Leaving behind to cherish her memory are four wonderful brothers: Denver C. (Barbara) Hough Jr. of Cambridge OH, Bob (Jeannie) Hough of Cambridge OH, Garry (Candy) Hough of Cambridge OH, Rick (Laura) Hough of Cambridge OH and two extraordinary sisters: Jan McCullough of Findlay OH, Sue Anne Hough of Mesa AZ. Several nieces including Tammie (Hough) Brown and nephews all of whom adored her, and many cousins who she was still very close to, her best friend of 34 years Debbie Ren and her life long dear friend Mary Jane Jerles.

The family would like to convey their utmost gratitude to all of the extremely caring and compassionate ICU staff including the Nurses, Doctors, Palliative Care Nurse Candy Critser, Linda Light of Quality Care Management and Pastor Ron Nichols of Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Bundy Law Funeral Home, Pastor Mark Beros, Northwood Cemetery and Central Steak and Ale staff.

Saundra would have said no to an obituary but this is really more of a tribute to her life well lived. She was such a wonderful life force that its our way of letting the world know at least some of the things that made her so special and the great impact she had on all of our lives. She will be greatly missed but never out of our thoughts!

Saundra wouldn't have said goodbye, she would have just given you an ornery wink and simply said see you later alligator…
