Spencer Dray Frenton, 79 of Newark, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at Licking Memorial Hospital in Newark, Ohio. He was born July 21, 1943 in Coshocton, Ohio to the late George and Alice (Berger) Frenton.
He was preceded in death by: six siblings, Gerhard Ralph "Bud" Frenton, Neale Rodger Frenton, Anna Ileen "Sally" Rose, Grace Marie "Brownie" Wheatley, Glenn Myron "Buck" Frenton and Charles Keith "Chuck" Frenton.
Spencer served his country in the U.S. Airforce from 1960 to 1965. He ran a successful construction business for over 30 years and never lost his enthusiasm for operating excavating equipment. He took pride in traveling throughout the Columbus area and noting many of the sites he had completed. He was the father of three children and he enjoyed working on various projects with them. He was a grandfather to nine grandchildren and loved spending time with them.
Spencer is survived by: his wife Judy (Creighton) Frenton, whom he married November 23, 1966; his three children, Kathy (Scott) Spencer, Matthew (Amanda) Frenton and Mark (Ambre) Frenton; nine grandchildren, Trey Spencer, Cole Spencer, Brooklyn Spencer, Matthew Frenton, Mason Frenton, Morgan Frenton, Max Frenton, Izaiah Frenton, and Nolan Frenton. He is also survived by: four sisters, Kathe Dale (David) Mizer, Sandra Lee "Cook" Hardy, Virginia Caroline "Gin" Stecker and Alice Jane (Dan) Ramseier.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, July 27, 2023 in Center Cemetery on Cadiz Road.
