Tim M. Lyons, age 70 of Reynoldsburg, passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 surrounded by family at Kobacker Hospice in Columbus. He was born on May 10, 1952 in Cambridge, a son of the late Kenneth Herbert Lyons and Norma (Noakes) Lyons.
Tim was a 1970 graduate of Cambridge High School. He served as a Sergeant with Guernsey County Sheriff's office for 6 years. At the time, he was Ohio's youngest named Sergeant. He then went on to work for Ohio Power (AEP). He wore many hats over the years such as a lineman, safety coordinator, which was his passion, then retired as a supervisor in 2016.
Tim enjoyed the art of calligraphy and also had a love for fishing and traveling. Over all, he loved his family most and was the pillar of the entire family. Nothing meant more to him than his wife, Jessie, two kids and his four grandchildren. They all were the absolute light of his entire life. Tim was a man of integrity and strength to all of who knew him and always stood for what was right. He was often a man who loved to tell stories and would draw people in to listen. He was always thinking of everyone else long before himself and was extremely giving to everyone around him. He never knew a stranger and he touched the lives of everyone who was lucky to have met him.
Tim leaves his wife of 48 years, Jessie L. (Fordyce) Lyons. They were married on March 2nd, 1972. Also surviving is daughter Trish (Jim) George, son Chad (Nikki) Lyons and his four beautiful grandchildren, Maddie Lyons, Luke Lyons, Gracie George and Mason George, all from Columbus. Tim was also blessed to have had many in-laws of sisters and brothers that he loved so much, including Joe (Greta) Fordyce of Florida, Jim (Doris) Fordyce of Cambridge, Mary Ellen Potts of Byesville, Joyce (Dayle) Snyder of Cambridge, Jane (Max) Rhoades of Pickerington, Arlene (Mike) Bailey from Zanesville as well as many nieces and nephews. Also, survived are brothers, Dale Lyons of Cambridge and Ted Lyons of South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by parents Kenneth Herbert Lyons and Norma (Noakes) Lyons of Cambridge, in-laws Robert Fordyce, Laverne (Jacobsmeyer) Fordyce of Cambridge and brother-in-law, Frank Potts of Byesville.
Memorial visitation will be held at Bundy-Law Funeral Home on January 5, 2023 from 4 pm to 6 pm with a service to begin at 6 pm. Pastor Jon Lobos will officiate. Tim's online guest book may be viewed and signed at
