Verda Marie (Reed) Burson died peacefully on Dec. 3, 2024 in Cambridge Ohio. She was 87. Born on a farm in Zilpo, Kentucky, the youngest of 5 children at the time, she loved her family, creation and her horse, Beauty.
When she was in her teens, her family moved to Zanesville, Ohio. Sometime later, Verda fell in love with, and married, Norbert (Jim) Reed.
After Norbert got out of the military, he became a computer operator at GE. Later Norbert and Verda settled into a cute home in the country, just west of Cambridge, where they raised their 4 children, Debbie (Brett) Sturtz, Jim (Margie) Reed, Susan (Gene) Ramsey and Tim (Jennifer) Reed. Verda was a dedicated wife and mother. She was also an artist, loving to paint watercolors and charcoal drawing. She loved to work with her chickens, make flower arrangements, teach her children about nature and about the Bible. One thing she was best known for by her children was her ability to whistle loud enough to call them back home from playing in the woods!
She also loved serving the brethren in the Living church of God where she made flower arrangements, sang in the choir and served with her second husband Jim Burson.
Besides her 4 children, Verda and Norbert had 10 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Jim Burson, three of her siblings, many nieces and nephews and all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Verda is predeceased by her first husband, Norbert, and two older brothers.
Visitation will be at Bundy-Law Funeral Home on Friday, December 6, 2024 from 12 pm to 1 pm with her funeral service to begin at 1 pm.
