Rev. William "Bill" L. Worcester III, age 83, of Cambridge, Ohio, passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023, at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center in Cambridge, Ohio. He was born at home in Martins Ferry, Ohio on July 23, 1940. He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Thomas Worcester, and his parents, William L. Worcester Jr., and Edith E. Worcester.
Rev. Worcester was a 1958 graduate of Martins Ferry High School. He graduated from Kentucky Christian College in 1962 with a B.A. in Religious Education and was ordained to the ministry at the First Christian Church in Martins Ferry, Ohio. In 1964, he graduated from East Tennessee State University with a B.A. in education. He furthered his education earning a master's degree from Milligan College. Rev. Worcester served many churches in Southeastern Ohio and taught school in both West Virginia and Ohio for over 30 years. He was a Bible scholar, an avid reader, and a jogger. He tutored many students in reading and math.
Bill is survived by his wife of 46 years, Laura (Klatt) Worcester. He is also survived by their children, Leigh Anne (and Michael) Hill of Bexley, OH; William L. Worcester IV (and Rebecca Keating) of Pittsburgh, PA; Sarah Worcester of Piedmont, OH; and Erin Worcester of Piedmont, OH. Grandchildren, Colin Spears of Bexley, OH; Lillian Worcester and William L. Worcester V of Barnesville, OH; Lilah and Isaac Ellerbee of Piedmont, OH; and Noah and Grace Hess of Piedmont, OH. He is also survived by a close cousin, Larry McNickle, and nephew, Danny Spurlock, as well as several sisters-in-law and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
A private graveside service will be held at Riverview Cemetery in Martins Ferry, OH with Rev. Rod Kasler to officiate.
