William E. West, Jr. age 88, of New Philadelphia, OH, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021.
Born August 15, 1932, William was a graduate of the former Uhrichsville High School. After being drafted into the US Army toward the end of the Korean War, William's exceptional leadership abilities were quickly recognized. He quickly rose to the rank of Corporal and was appointed to train cadets at West Point Military Academy—the US Army's preeminent leadership training facility.
Along with his parents, William E. West, Sr., and Florence (Romig) West, William helped run community bakery West's Fine Pastries of Uhrichsville before transitioning to other entrepreneurial business ventures, ultimately focusing on real estate. William was blessed to grow up with two younger sisters, Marjorie Losey of Dover, and Cheryl Garabrandt who resides in Dennison.
After 55 years of marriage, he is survived by his loving wife, Mae West, their only son, William E. West, III, and two grandchildren, who will all miss him deeply.
William was preceded in death by a son, Wayne William West, and survived by Linda Kendle (daughter) and her three children and five grandchildren.
